Riley's First Birthday Part 1: Saturday

Happy Wednesday!  Today I am writing about Riley's First Birthday! Riley celebrated twice this year, because my dad had surgery and was unable to travel down to our home for his birthday party! Instead of posting about the entire weekend I am going to split it up between two days, Saturday and Sunday! Saturday was a party for our neighbors and friends, that we work, with to attend and it was so much fun hosting a party at our home! We grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, and ribs and had chips and other things that go well with a cookout like beans and coleslaw and all that fun stuff! After that we opened gifts and then it was time for cake! I didn't start taking pictures until it was time to open gifts, since I was busy running around hosting!
Scott helped Riley open his gifts this time. I helped Charlotte with her first birthday so I thought it was super special that he helped his little boy on his first birthday!

Riley got the best gifts! We are truly blessed to have such amazing friends around us

Riley loved opening up his presents. He thought they were the coolest

All of the kids kept gathering around playing with the various toys! Scott was like woah and I captured it perfectly! It was the best :)

His cupcake for the day! My mom made both his smash cake and his cake for his birthday for Sunday so we just did a little cupcake for him and we made a cake ourselves for the rest of the guests. Plus I bought a few cupcakes for all of the kids running around, since I know kids love cupcakes so much!

The 12 year old made the cake, and the 16 year old frosted and decorated it! I had lots of errands to run so having them be able to help out and contribute was such a blessing! Plus it was yummy!

Riley has never had cake before, so he was all for it

He wasn't sure at first

Until I smashed his face into it(not very hard though, just a slight push to break up the cake), then he was all in!

He ate the entire cupcake! Everyone was like wait what?!? It was so funny

He definitely got a bath after his cake! After cake the kids just ran around and played while we talked with our friends. Then it was bath time and bed time for the babies! The party was at 3 and our last guest left at 7:30 which is when bed time is so the babies went to bed at the perfect time!

Once the babies were in bed I took pictures of the decorations.

We didn't go quite as crazy this year, just because we had a lot to do and nothing is close to our house so its a chore to go back and forth. It's an hour to the nearest Party City so I made one trip and hoped I didn't forget anything

We were so blessed to be surrounded by people that love our little guy as much as we do! We were so excited to have everyone over and I cannot wait for our next party!
Have a great day! See you back here tomorrow for Part 2 of Riley's first birthday!
Thanks for stopping by!
XOXO

Show and Tell Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! Today I'm linking up with Andrea and doing Show and Tell Tuesday!  Today it is all about how to win your heart!  In the four years I have known Scott he has always known how to make my heart go pitter patter! Whether he is sitting with our children and playing and laughing with them, or on a pizza date where we both look awful because it is so spur of the moment because the kids went to Mimi's for the first time in a couple months we rush out so fast without showers, he knows how to speak to my heart!  Scott and I will be married three years this coming June and in those three years we have been married he goes above and beyond with speaking to my heart! Whether it is a random coffee or energy drink that he brings me while I'm chasing the kiddos, or just telling me to go to the bookstore and read a few magazines, I got the kids for a couple hours, it is those things that win me over day after day! What is different about our lo...

Show and Tell Tuesday! House Tour 2016

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Today I am linking up with Andrea for Show and Tell Tuesday! Today it is House Tour! I have always loved these posts, but have never participated in one because of the fact that we were in a two bedroom apartment, which was tiny for our family of four. This past April we bought our home and moved in and three months later we are finally here at this post and I am so excited to join along and invite you all into our home! It is still a work in progress and none of the walls have been re-painted but I am loving all the grey tones for now, it keeps the home neutral and cool until I feel like spicing things up! Come on in!  We are still decorated from Fourth of July, but here is the front entrance.  When you walk into our home this is the first thing you see. There is a hallway to the left of the staircase, and to the right is the dining room. This is our formal dining room! I need to do an updated tour of this room but for now I b...

Weekend Recap!

Happy Monday! I wont lie, today is a lot like my dish towel says: We had all the plans to go exploring and do something productive this weekend, but I only managed to clean the entire kitchen on Friday afternoon while the babies were napping! Here is a a bit of our weekend:  Friday morning started out with two monkeys jumping on the bed bright and early!  I love how they wake up so happy in the morning Riley got his 15 month shots on Thursday so I was fully expecting a grump and a half and got a very happy smiley baby boy instead!  We practiced blowing kisses We snuggled and we ran around with our backpack of toys Mommy did not unpack from the doctor's visit.  Saturday we spent lots of time snuggling on the couch, napping, and watching cartoons and just relaxing before hitting up the grocery store for a big trip. We got home late enough it was a sandwich for dinner kind of night.  Sunday we had plans to go out and ab...
